Because the typical full bath is twice the size of the typical half bath there are many more variations for what you can install where. Depending on your existing or planned plumbing system the toilet, for example, can probably be installed in one of a number of locations. You have variety. Of course, you also have limitations. For economy, maybe you planned to have all water fixtures on the same wall or on adjacent walls so the plumbing run is short. Here are some tips on planning the remodel of a basic full bath: * If your budget allows, spend a hundred dollars or more on upgrading the sink, tub, or faucets; shopping around can often get you wine on a beer budget. * Remember to verify that the subfloor is in good condition before installing new flooring and fixtures. * If you’re uncomfortable with installing new plumbing, hire a plumber to instruct or assist you on the best ways to install. * When buying larger components such as a tub-shower combination, ask the dealer for a copy of the installation instructions that you can study before purchasing. * If you are installing a new tub or shower unit, carefully measure clearances of doorways in your home in the path to the remodeled bathroom. * Make sure you have all major components on hand before preparing the room for the remodel.
