The things you need for installing wiring and lighting are easy to find. Just about any building material store and even the hardware departments of discount stores sell wire cable rolls, lighting fixtures, receptacles, switches, wire nuts, and other components. And they’re cheap. You can buy a replacement switch for about a dollar. Electrical components you may need for your bathroom remodel may include: * Electrical multi-wire cable (per local electrical code) * Electrical boxes (metal or plastic, depending on application and local code) * Electrical conduit or pipes to contain wires (required in some applications by local electrical codes) * Electrical receptacles with screw terminals, push-in fittings or both. * Electrical circuit switches (single pole, three-way, four-way, etc.) * Electrical lighting appliances * Solderless connectors (also known as wire nuts) for connecting wires together There are other components to some wiring jobs, but these are the most common. If your remodeling plan has a detailed wiring diagram it will include the location and type of the various components you need. In addition, a materials list for the job will include the specific electrical wiring and lighting components needed. It’s your shopping list.
