It all starts with a building plan, a detailed drawing of exactly what you (or your contractors) will be doing to change an existing structure. It will include a drawing of the structure as it is today as well as the planned changes. Depending on how extensive the remodeling is, building plans will include some or all of the following: * Framing plan * Floor plans * Wiring plan * Plumbing plan * Interior elevations * Section drawings * Specifications list * Materials list A trip to your local building department will tell you what permits will be needed, what plans you’ll need to supply, and what building codes you must follow to remodel your bathroom.
