Tools needed for plumbing include the basics as well as some specialized tools. The basics include common screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, and grips that are common to fixing most things mechanical. You also may need a butane torch for copper pipe installation. Specialized tools include pipe wrenches, spud wrenches, chain wrenches, and faucet-seat wrenches. In addition, some pipe materials require special tools for cutting and fitting. For example, copper pipe is cut with a tubing cutter, the ends are flared with a flaring tool, and the pipe can be bent with a tubing bender. PVC pipe is cut with a hacksaw; joints are fastened using special primer and adhesive. You also may need some woodworking tools for your plumbing jobs. The tools include hammers, drills, tape measures, and drills.
