Cleaning up latex paint is relatively easy because it is water-soluble. You can soak hardened brushes until they are soft, then rinse them thoroughly to remove excess paint. Remember that brushes and rollers are design to absorb lots of paint so rinsing the paint out may take awhile. Run water over and through tools until the water runs clear. Remodeling Tips To eliminate cleanup after painting with latex use disposable brushes and pads made from various foam products. They are inexpensive relative to professional painting brushes you may only use once or twice a year. Cleaning up after applying an oil-based paint is a little more work. It requires a paint solvent. Wear protective gloves and follow directions on the container.
