Want to save some money? As much as half the cost of your bathroom remodel? Then do some or all of the work yourself! It’s really not that difficult. I’ll show you how in the Bathroom Remodeling section of this website. Meantime, take a reality test by answering the following questions about your bathroom remodeling job: * Do you have a plan for your bathroom remodel including design and costs? * Do you have the time and energy to complete this remodeling project? * What other do-it-yourself projects have you completed and what did you learn from them? * Is this project a facelift, makeover, or addition? * How much of this remodel are you comfortable doing yourself? * Do you have the funds to hire a remodeling contractor or does your budget require that you do some of the work yourself? * Do you have friends or relatives with remodeling experience who can advise you on difficult areas? * Do you have a team of living partners or friends who can provide additional hands when needed? * How strict are local building codes (Section 9)? * Is this job big enough to earn a discount from a local materials supplier? * How motivated are you to do this remodel yourself versus hire some or all of it done for you? From the answers to these and related questions you can determine your needs, resources, and preferences for doing it yourself or hiring it done. Consider that no matter what you decide you have to hire someone, either you or an expert. So learning more about what each expert does will help you make an informed decision on whether to hire him or her—or yourself.
