The most common configuration for bathroom cabinets is a base cabinet sufficiently wide for a single sink and some countertop room. The minimum width typically is 30 in. From there, cabinets are up to 60 or more inches wide with two sinks. Besides width, the lavatory configuration you choose will depend on how much and what type of storage you need. For example, how many drawers do you require? Four is the standard number in a base drawer cabinet. How about under-sink storage shelves? Remember that the sink and plumbing will take up some of the storage space. Do you need roll-out shelves or are stationary shelves okay? When planning cabinetry configurations, remember to allow for clearances. For example, make sure that drawers can be fully extended without hitting other objects. This may take special planning as you install adjacent cabinets at a 90 degree angle to each other.
