* Install a door through an exterior wall to access a patio where a hot tub or spa can be installed. * Add a small sunroom on the exterior that can become a garden room for your bath. * Reduce the size of an adjacent closet (with storage projects) to gain additional space for bathroom fixtures. * Go up: cut into the attic ceiling above to install a skylight. * Go down: change the flooring system so you can install a bathtub with the top at floor level. If all you need is a larger bathroom, expanding an existing bath may be the better option. It still requires that major walls get moved and plumbing might be rerouted, but it saves the labor and expense of building a new room.
