For instant decoration, apply wallpaper to basement walls along side or instead of paint. Wallpapering used to be a difficult job that required finesse and a few @#&*% words. Today’s wall covering products are much easier to apply, especially the ones with adhesive already on the back side. Preparing for wallpaper means making sure the wall surface is clean, dry, and smooth. Use TSP to clean dirty surfaces. Otherwise, use a vacuum cleaner and a brush to remove any dust particles left over from remodeling your basement. The most difficult part of installing wallpaper is aligning it so that seams and any vertical patterns match up. You don’t want to be able to see the seams. The wall covering product you purchase will have installation instructions. However, most are installed in the same manner.
