| Installing Cabinets |
|
Base cabinets are relatively easy to place. Here’s how it’s done: * Mark a level reference line on the wall where cabinets will be installed so that the tops of all base cabinets will be level. * Cut any holes necessary in the back of the cabinet needed for plumbing or wiring. * Place the cabinet (the corner cabinet if more than one) and use shims to level the top at the reference line. * Move shims as needed to make sure that the cabinet is plumb and level. * Install any adjacent cabinets. * Use screws to fasten the cabinet into wall studs; use a stud-finder to identify locations if not known. * Install toe-kick molding to cover the bottom front edge of the cabinet and trim molding where cabinets meet. Your base cabinets are now ready for counter tops. Hanging or wall cabinets are installed in a similar way. Mark the wall for level, place the cabinet, then attach it to the wall with screws into the studs.
