Page 1 of 2 Did you plan and build a home office in your new basement? If so, it’s time to furnish it with all the tools (and toys) needed to put it to work. What will you be doing in your new home office/den? Paying bills? Taking work from the office home? Building a new business? Will the kids do their homework in it? How you will use the room—and your budget—will dictate what office furniture you need and will include in your new home office. At least you’ll need a desk. It can be a student desk for less than $150 or an office suite with pedestal desk, credenza, and bridge for $3,000 or more. Whatever fits your needs—and whatever money you have left over from remodeling. Just make sure that you don’t buy any new office or other furniture for your basement unless you’re sure you can get it down there. It may be that you can pull some excess furniture from crowded rooms in the upper floors to furnish your office or den. It can become the new location for all those boxed books in the garage. You have loads of options now that you have more living space.
